Windrise Retreat Center is located in Metamora, Michigan, about 50 miles North of Detroit;
25 miles Southeast of Flint; and 85 miles Northeast of Ann Arbor.
From
the South/Detroit Area: Take I-75 North to Exit 81 for the Palace of Auburn Hills sports arena, and also for Lapeer Road
or M-24. Turn right at the ramp traffic light onto Lapeer Road or M-24 North. Proceed on M-24 for 18 miles north to Dryden
Road . You will pass through the small cities of Lake Orion and Oxford. 9 miles north of Oxford you will see a Rite Aid Drug
store and a McDonalds on your left as you approach the traffic light at Dryden Road (County Hwy 62). Turn right (east) at
the light onto Dryden Road and proceed 4.7 miles east through the village of Metamora to Thornville.
(PLEASE, THERE ARE NO MAJOR LANDMARKS TO MARK THORNVILLE ROAD, PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO YOUR ODOMETER!)
Soon
after you pass the Thornville sign you will cross a small creek and will see a see a white picket fence at the intersection
with of Dryden Road and Thornville Road which is marked with a street sign. Turn left (north) onto Thornville Road,
which is a gravel road. Again, check your odometer and travel 0.7 miles until you see the Windrise sign on your left. Turn
left into the farm and at the “T” by the red barn turn left, ignore the white house and buildings on your right.
Enjoy the drive through the groves of trees and between the pastures for ¼ mile to the large white house we call The
Casa. Additional parking is available on the grass area above the circle driveway.
From the West and North: I-69 East to Lapeer Road (M-24) south to Dryden east to Thornville Road, then follow the directions
written above.
